Event Details

A group gathered at IHME in February to discuss ways to gather, share, disseminate or otherwise manage data in global health or life sciences.  Attendees included SBRI, IDRI, Fred Hutch, the Gates Foundation, ISB, and Seattle Children's.  We're continuing the conversation at SBRI on May 27.

Please join us for an informal roundtable conversation to share best practices, challenges and visions for using data within our organizations, collaborating with others, and sharing findings and data resources with the wider world.

Topics to be discussed will be based on your interests, and may include:

  • Data sharing (transparency, public/private domain, science commons)
  • Data presentation (analytical tools, visualization, GIS mapping)
  • Collaboration (intranets, extranets, and the wider web)
  • Data collection (mobile technology, social media, quality issues)

The event is jointly sponsored by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation and Forum One Communications.

Agenda:
5:00 - 5:30 - meet and greet, food and drink
5:30 - 6:00 - roundtable: who are you, what are you working on, what keeps you up at night
6:00 - 7:30 - presentations/case studies and discussion (3 to 4)
7:30 and beyond - networking, more food and drink (in the neighborhood)

What to bring:
Your good ideas, and a stack of business cards.  We'll be soliciting attendees to prepare brief informal presentations of current projects or challenges in advance.

Who should come:
This is an invitation-only event.  If you have colleagues that work with data in global health or the life sciences please let us know and we'll invite them as appropriate.
